Kevin C. Wang, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology, former director of the inpatient dermatology consult service at Stanford, and Attending Physician at the Palo Alto VA. He is a Faculty Member in the Program in Epithelial Biology, Bio-X, and Cancer Biology Ph.D. Program, and his research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation in stem cells, development, and cancer. His clinical interests include complex adult medical dermatology, pruritus, neuropathic dermatoses, and inpatient dermatology.

In his free time, Kevin enjoys cheering on the Giants, 49ers, and Warriors, as well as spending time with his children, Lillian, Lucas, and Liam.

A graduate student in Cancer Biology who grew up here in the Bay Area, Derek focused his studies in human genetics while at UCLA, and studied the Hepatitis C virus during an internship at the National Institutes of Health.

In his free time, Derek enjoys movies and television.

As a graduate student in Cell and Molecular Biology, she worked to develop tools to study anticancer drug mechanisms which function through DNA damage.  A recent transplant to California, she is looking forward to discovering it's many secrets!

Poonam joined the lab in 2018, and in her free time enjoys running, hiking, traveling, and making new friends.

A Palo Alto native, Erin returned from the East Coast to join the lab in June 2017. Erin's research focus at BU was on Nanoparticle Drug Delivery.  In her free time she enjoys photography, learning new programming languages, playing soccer, and petting cats.


Bryan Bustamante

Bryan joined the Wang Lab as part of the RISE Summer Internship Program which encourages high school students to get involved in science and engineering programs. He will be returning to Kipp King to complete his high school senior year and begin applying to colleges.


Jonathan Perr

University of Washington, Seattle, WA

Jon joined the Wang Lab for as a summer trainee to get experience working in a wet lab conducting research. His primary field of study is Biochemistry with a Minor in Applied Mathematics. While at UW he has been working in the Parrish Lab and The Vaughan Group as a researcher and is the recipient twice for the Mary Gates Research Scholarship.

Ellen worked with the Wang Lab during the summer 0f 2018 and has returned to Hopkins School for her senior year and will be also busy with applying to colleges.

James worked with the Wang Lab during the summer of 2018 then returned to Bates College where he will finish his degree.

Yunhai was a Postdoc member of the Wang lab from 2015 - 2018.

Gautam Shankar


The Bioinfomatician for the Wang and Oro Labs at Stanford from 2015 - 2018, Gautam has returned to the East Coast to work at Johns Hopkins.
